On March 28, 2019 the 7th network meeting of "Women in Photonics" took place at the IFSW. The meeting is regularly organized by the non-profit association Photonics BW e.V., which was founded in 2000 to promote optical technologies in Baden-Württemberg.
First, Prof. Thomas Graf, Director of the IFSW, introduced the institute and gave a lecture on the laser as a universal tool for industry 4.0, which in future will bundle most of the known laser material processing processes in one and the same machine. Anne Feuer then gave an insight into her work at the institute in her talk on "Precise and productive: Micromachining processes with high-power ultrafast lasers" and showed various project examples in which the laser is used for process optimization.
In the afternoon, the program included a tour through the institute and a business coaching workshop for the participants. Around 40 women from research, development and industry took part in the event.
