The World´s Thinnest Cellulose Supermicrofibers

Thanks to spinnerets with almost 2000 holes which were laser-drilled with very high reproducibility at the IFSW, the probably thinnest cellulose supermicrofibers worldwide were spun at the ITCF in Denkendorf. The laser-processed holes have a diameter of 25 µm with a high aspect-ratio of 1:10. The supermicrofibers were produced by direct spinning and exhibit a titer of 0.2 dtex (0.2 g / 10 km). The work is carried out in the framework of a joint project funded by the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung.
