New publications on heat accumulation during ultra-short pulsed laser processing

The Precision Machining group of the Institut für Strahlwerkzeuge (IFSW) continues investigate the topic of heat accumulation during ultra-short pulsed laser processing. Hereby, carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) are of particular interest since they are very heat sensitive. On this topic the IFSW cooperates with the General Physics Institute (GPI) in Moscow.

As a result of this cooperation four peer-reviewed papers were published within the last year addressing heat accumulation effects and their influencing factors:

With these publications the IFSW and the GPI lay the scientific foundations for the successful upscaling of the ultra-short pulsed laser processes to high average laser powers which is one of the current challenges in micro materials processing.
