Five years after the second edition, the completely and fundamentally revised third edition of the book "Laser in der Fertigung" by Helmut Hügel and Thomas Graf was published in February 2014. The revision was carried out under didactic aspects and to facilitate self-study. Based on the generation and properties of the laser beam, the interaction mechanisms with the workpiece, which are essential for successful process design, are dealt with in depth. On the basis of selected and industrially important manufacturing processes, the combination of basic knowledge and technological implementation is presented in an exemplary manner.
