New Thin-Disk Laser Record: 750 W, M² = 1.5, ηopt = 58%

June 2, 2012

An almost diffraction-limited output power of 750 W with a high optical efficiency of 58.5% from a thin-disk laser with one single Yb:LuAG crystal in the resonator was extracted by pumping into the zero-phonon absorption line at 969 nm. The beam propagation factor does not exceed M² = 1.56 across the whole power range. This is the best ever demonstrate performance with a single thin-disk in the laser resonator to date.
