The Institut für Strahlwerkzeuge (IFSW) of the University of Stuttgart (USTUTT) wins a new H2020 project for the development and the application of high-power highly efficient femtosecond lasers. The project HIPERDIAS aims at the development of laser systems with kW-class average output power and sub-1ps pulses at high-repetition rates (MHz).

The project is directed by Dr. M. Abdou Ahmed, head of the Laser Development and Optics department of the IFSW, and is conducted in cooperation with the renowned partners Amplitude Systèmes (FR), Gesellschaft für Angewandte Mikro- und Optoelektronik mit beschränkter Haftung (AMO) GmbH (GE), Element Six Limited (IR), Robert Bosch (GE), Université de Limoges (FR), GLOPhotonics (FR), Laser Engineering Applications (LASEA) S.A. (BE), Class 4 Laser Professional AG (CH), and Kite Innovation Europe (UK).

The 42-months project is the first H2020 project at USTUTT, received a grant of 3.6 Million € from the European commission (EC) and started on 1st of February 2016.
